Oktoberfest 2022 in Munich Germany
Oktoberfest in Munich dates back centuries to when King Ludwig I of Bavaria wed Princess Therese from Saxony-Hildburghausen on October 12th, 1810. He had no clue he was setting the foundations for what would become the largest beer festival in the world a couple of centuries later. The modest gathering of Bavarians on their wedding celebrated with beer and wine, sang, danced and had so much fun that they decided it should be repeated at the same time the following year, which marked the birth of the “October-Festivals”.
209 years later, more than 7 million people are expected to participate in Oktoberfest 2022 which will take place in Munich, Germany. The Bavarian roots of the celebration are well and truly alive with people from all across the globe dressing in traditional Lederhosen and dirndl dress to show their appreciation of the local culture. The festival never fails to live up to its reputation and this year will be no exception, as Oktoberfest 2022 is set to be the biggest the world has seen yet.
